Liturgical Ministries

St. Andrew is a parish that offers “something for everyone”. Opportunities abound for everyone to become involved in parish life. Working with others is fun and rewarding. Participating in a ministry or committee gives you the opportunity to make your own unique contribution, and support the parish community at the same time.

For more information or to volunteer, please go to the “Contact Us” page or call the Parish House Office at 718-680-1010.

Liturgy Committee
The Liturgical Committee plans, prepares and coordinates our parish liturgies and environment. The goal of our parish is the “full, conscious, and active participation” of our entire parish community in every liturgy. Liturgy IS the work of the people, including service in LITURGICAL MINISTRIES.

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the Presider in preparing the Altar for Holy Communion and distribute the Body and Blood of Christ to the community. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion may also be asked to bring Holy Communion to the sick and homebound.

Lectors
Lectors proclaim God’s Word to the people. To proclaim well, Lectors must understand the Scriptures, practice reading them clearly and reverently, and convey their meaning to all present at our liturgies.

Hospitality Ministers
Hospitality Ministers are the first sign of WELCOME to St. Andrew’s. As we gather to worship together, Hospitality Ministers assist with seating and any special needs. Hospitality Ministers carry the Processional Cross, take up the offertory collection, and assist with the Communion procession.

If you are interested in learning more about serving in one of these ministries, please contact Susan Georgini at the Parish House (718-680-1010).
